(ABC), 18 to Life (CW) ---------- -Ratings Breakdown:NBC led the Tuesday overnights thanks to two more hours of America’s Got Talent, beating second-place CBS by three-tenths of a rating point (or six percent). Next was Fox, followed by ABC and lowly The CW. Ignited by Hell’s Kitchen, expect Fox to finish first among coveted adults 18-49. America’s Got Talent stood well above the competition last night, with a 6.3 rating/10 share in the overnights from 9-11 p.m. and the half-hour breakdown as follows: America’s Got Talent (NBC) 9:00 p.m.: 6.4/10 (#1) 9:30 p.m.: 6.5/10 (#1)10:00 p.m.: 6.3/10 (#1)10:30 p.m.: 6.2/10 (#1) Earlier in the evening on NBC was a repeat of game show Minute to Win It at a fourth-place 2.9/ 5 at 8 p.m. CBS won the 8 p.m. hour in the overnights care of a repeat of NCIS (6.2/10). But the show to beat among adults 18-49 in the time period is the season-finale of Hell’s Kitchen on Fox (#2: 5.0/ 8). CBS capped off the evening with repeats of NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 5.0/ 8) and older-skewing The Good Wife (#2: 3.7/ 6) from 9-11 p.m., while Fox aired reality/competition Masterchef at 9 p.m. (#3: 4.3/ 7). Comparably, retention for compatible Masterchef out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Hell’s Kitchen (5.1/ 8) was a solid 84 percent. Over at ABC, summer favorite Wipeout remained just that, with a third-place 4.7/ 8 in the overnights at 8 p.m. (and an expected second-place finish among adults 18-49). Despite the solid lead-in support, recent returnee Shaq Vs. dipped to a fourth-place 2.6/ 4 at 9 p.m., followed by newsmagazine Primetime: What Would You Do? at a third-place 3.1/ 5 at 10 p.m. Worth positively noting for Primetime: What Would You Do?, however, was growth of 24 percent out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Shaq Vs. (2.5/ 4). CBS finished first in households and total viewers for the seventh consecutive week, Fox was No. 1 in adults 18-34, and NBC dominant among adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 thanks to America’s Got Talent and the highest rated NFL pre-season game in nine years (11.44 million; A18-49: 4.2 rating/12 share for Cincinnati vs. Dallas on August 8). ABC had bragging rights of its own, with year-to-year growth of 45 to 62 percent in the five surveyed categories as a result of the top-rated season-finale of The Bachelorette. Comparably, The Bachelorette closed its most-watched season since 2004 with growth of 1.7 million viewers (11.7 vs. 10.0 million) and nine percent in adults 18-49 (3.8/11 vs. 3.5/10) over it’s year-ago season-ender. Elsewhere, cellar-dweller The CW was on par with year-ago levels. In specials news (and there was nothing special about this), the latest edition of Wrestlemania on CBS scored a miniscule 1.80 million viewers (#82 overall) and a 0.6/ 3 among adults 18-49 (#78t) in the Saturday 9 p.m. hour. Otherwise, it was another week loaded with repeats and an abundance of lackluster original performers, including ABC scripted dramas Scoundrels and The Gates and the recently introduced Breakthrough with Tony Robbins on NBC, which is certainly not breaking through, and Plain Jane on The CW. Working Class is expected to launch in January 2011. -Cartoon Network Announces Return Date for Star Wars: The Clone Wars:CG-animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars from LucasFilm Ltd. will open season three on Cartoon Network on Friday, Sept. 17 with a one-hour installment at 9 p.m. ET. Twenty two episodes have been ordered. -Executive Shuffle:Tracie Wilson has been named SVP of Programming & Development, Stamford Media Center, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
