In time period premiere news, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC kicked-off in the Friday 9 p.m. hour (following last Sunday’s preview) with a respectable second-place finish in both total viewers (7.51 million) and adults 18-49 (2.6/ 8). Comparably, this was a double-digit improvement over anything the network has aired in the time period this season (including Ugly Betty, Shark Tank and 20/20). Earlier in the evening on ABC was a repeat of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution at 5.45 million viewers (#3) and a 1.6/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 8 p.m. At 10 p.m., veteran 20/20 capped off the evening for the alphabet net with 6.25 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 1.9/ 6 in the demo at 10 p.m. Over at NBC, recently introduced Who Do You Think You Are?, featuring Matthew Broderick last night, finished second in total viewers (6.21 million) and third among adults 18-49 (1.5/ 2) at 8 p.m. That led into the two-hour edition of Dateline at 6.77 million viewers and a 1.5/ 5 in the demo from 9-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows: Dateline (NBC)9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.40 million (#3), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#4)9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.62 million (#3), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#4)10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.84 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#3)10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 7.21 million (#2), A18-49: 1.6/ 5 (#3) Fox populated the evening with a repeat of House (Viewers: #4: 3.69 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 4) and an original installment of Kitchen Nightmares (Viewers: #4: 4.29 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 5), which deserves accolades for building by 42 percent in the demo out of House. Third overall was ABC, followed by Fox, which is dependent, of course, on young adults. ABC’s below average overnight performance was a result of veteran America’s Funniest Home Videos at 7 p.m. (#2: 4.2/ 8), followed by repeats of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (#2: 4.2/ 7), Desperate Housewives (#3: 3.7/ 6) and Castle (#3: 3.1/ 5) from 8-11 p.m. Fans of Brothers & Sisters should mark their calendars for two back-to-back original episodes on April 11. Fox capped off this final Sunday in March with two more burn-off episodes of ‘Til Death (#4: avg. 1.6/ 3 from 7-8 p.m.), The Simpsons (#3: 3.5/ 6), The Cleveland Show (#4: 3.4/ 5), Family Guy (#3: 4.5/ 7) and recent entry Sons of Tucson, which dipped to a series-low (and last-place) 2.4/ 4 in the overnights at 9:30 p.m. Three week Sons of Tucson overnight track: 3.0/ 5 – 2.6/ 4 – 2.4/ 4. Comparably, retention for Sons of Tucson out of Family Guy was only 53 percent. But Family Guy built out of lead-in The Cleveland Show by 32 percent and is expected to score, as usual, among adults 18-49. Fox’s long-running 24 will officially end with a two-hour series-finale on Monday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET. Said series star Kiefer Sutherland: "This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible. While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon. This feels like the culmination of all our efforts from the writers to the actors to our fantastic crew and everyone at Fox.
