The Mobile Advertising Opportunity You’re Missing

Changing the global game

If you’re thinking global, you need to think mobile. By 2020, emerging markets like India, Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia are expected to have more than 2.5 billion smartphone users.

Our latest guide, “Emerging Markets: Changing the Game of Mobile Advertising” looks at mobile trends in these countries and offers valuable insights for marketers.

Here are a few areas that we look at in the guide:

Focus on Android

While Android accounts for a little more than half of U.S. smartphones, the OS has an 88 percent share globally.

Emerging markets are mad about mobile video

YouTube ranks among the top two most-used apps in all four of the countries studied. Worldwide, video is on track to account for 70 percent of all mobile data traffic in the next five years.

Don’t break the data plan bank

The high cost of data discourages many users from downloading apps. In fact, 50 percent of smartphone users in India deactivate their data plans, according to The Guardian. This has forced companies like YouTube to create “lite” versions of their apps to reduce data usage.
