Half Of UK Population Will Be Active On Social Media This Year, Says Study [REPORT]

Slightly more than half of the population of the United Kingdom will be using social networks in 2013, with further growth, albeit at a slowing pace, expected over the next few years, reveals a new study from eMarketer.

50.2 percent of the UK’s population are expected to use a social network site at least once per month via any device this year, risking to 35 percent in 2015 and 36.7 percent in 2017.

While UK social network growth is slowing, with use amongst the key 18-24 demographic actually expected to shrink in 2017, growth amongst social networkers aged 11 years or younger and those 65 and older are more than expected to make up the difference.

Overall, women are expected to dominate social media usage in the UK, with the percentage of females using these channels rising to 52.7
