Facebook exploded Wednesday after news broke that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional, and the social network reported more than 4 million related mentions.

Mentions of the top 10 terms in conversations that were relevant to the DOMA ruling topped 1.5 million from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. PT (9 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET) Wednesday, reaching 3 million two hours later, and topping 4 million by 1 p.m.
