Square Enix Launches Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ on Mobile in North America

Square Enix has announced the launch of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ (read as Unchained ‘Key’) in North America. The game contains story elements from Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III, and sees players explore the worlds of famous Disney properties on their quest to defeat the Heartless and save the world from Darkness. In Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, players create a Keyblade Master by selecting its gender, clothing, hairstyle and more. From there, players align their character with one of five unions, which will allow them to work with other members of the same union later on. Gameplay sees players complete level-based quests by exploring environments and defeating Heartless in turn-based battles. During battle, players tap or swipe to attack enemies using a limited number of Medals on each turn. Once they run out of Medals, the enemy takes a turn. Gamers will collect Lux, the game’s experience points, as they defeat enemies. After each quest, players may be rewarded with Munny, Jewels (the game’s premium currency), collectible items and more. Each quest has three objectives to complete, like defeating an enemy or enemy team in one turn, as an example. Completing these objectives rewards players with bonus items, like Avatar Coins, after the quest ends. Gamers can spend Jewels to receive new Medals, each with different stats (users may also receive free Medals as they complete quests). Players can change the Medals they have equipped in order to make their attacks stronger. As players collect Medals, they can spend Munny to fuse their extra Medals into those they'd like to keep to make them stronger. In addition, gamers can upgrade their Keyblade by spending collectibles. A stronger Keyblade also makes players’ attacks stronger. Meanwhile, players can spend Avatar Coins to unlock nodes on clothing and accessory boards, with each item or item set having its own board. In addition to containing nodes relating to clothing and accessory items, a board may contain nodes relating to upgrades for a character's maximum health or AP, as examples (AP is used to enter quests). Gamers can spend Jewels to unlock boards relating to premium clothing and accessory items. Outside of the game’s main story quests, gamers can complete special timed quests, which may only be available on certain days of the week. In a statement, Kingdom Hearts franchise director, Tetsuya Nomura, commented: We wanted to thank all the Kingdom Hearts fans for patiently waiting for the launch of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ in North America. We would love for everyone to dive into the world of Kingdom Hearts not only through this title, but through the upcoming titles, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III. As an origins story, there are many elements in the game that new players can enjoy. The game can also be easily picked up and played, so it would be great if fans new and old take the opportunity to play the game.
