POLL: NSA, IRS More Trusted With Privacy, Personal Data Than Facebook, Google

The National Security Agency is still dealing with the fallout from its Prism long-term Internet spying initiative, and the Internal Revenue Service will never win any popularity contests, but according to a recent Reason-Rupe poll, respondents trusted the NSA and the IRS more than Facebook and Google.

The National Security Agency is still dealing with the fallout from its Prism long-term Internet spying initiative, and the Internal Revenue Service will never win any popularity contests, but according to a recent Reason-Rupe poll, respondents trusted the NSA and the IRS more than Facebook and Google.

According to the poll of 1,013 adults from Sept. 4 through 8, conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International, 61 percent of respondents did not trust Facebook “at all” to protect their privacy or personal information, and 48 percent said the same about Google.
