Prefect for communications Monsignor Dario Viganò told Vatican Radio Tuesday that Pope Francis will join Instagram Saturday under the account name “Franciscus,” ANSA reported.
Pope Francis has been on Twitter since February 2012, and his account was nearing 9 million followers at the time of this post.
Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom met with Pope Francis at the Vatican in February, according to Time.
There is already an Official Vatican Network Instagram account, which has more than 79,000 followers.
