Nobel Peace Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai Generates 17M Posts, Likes, Comments on Facebook

Malala Yousafzai -- who survived an Oct. 9, 2012, assassination attempt by the Taliban in Pakistan, where she was targeted for voicing her options about women’s rights and education -- became the world’s youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner last Friday, and she shared her reaction on the Malala Fund Facebook page.

Libby Leffler, who handles Facebook’s strategic partnerships with influencers and causes, said in a Facebook Media blog post that from Oct. 10 through 12, some 11 million users of the social network generated approximately 17 million posts, likes and comments about Yousafzai, adding that more than 1 million Facebook users viewed her live remarks on the social network in the first 24 hours.
