Twitter Alerts Lets Users Get Emergency Information, Fast

The new subscription-based feature pushes notifications to users' mobile devices in times of crisis.

Twitter has become a place for people to connect and get information quickly during emergencies. To facilitate the speed of information, today Twitter announced the launch of Twitter Alerts.

Twitter says the alerts feature “brings us one step closer to helping users get important and accurate information during emergencies, natural disasters or when other communications services aren’t accessible.”

While some might argue that faster information can sometimes lead to negative consequences, the general public will not be able to send out alerts.
