Facebook’s Monika Bickert: More Than 1 Million User Violations Reported Daily

Facebook and other social networks are often put in uncomfortable positions when it comes to potentially offensive content, and the sheer volume of user violation reports is staggering.
Head of global product policy Monika Bickert said at the first-ever Online Harassment Summit at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, Saturday that the social network receives more than 1 million reports of user violations each day, CNNMoney reported.
Bickert told CNNMoney she did not have a specific number for how many of those violations result in content being deleted from Facebook, and she said of the social network’s policy:
You can criticize institutions, religions, and you can engage in robust political conversation, but what you can’t do is cross the line into attacking a person or a group of people based on a particular characteristic.
