Mobile Game Roundup: Crazy Cake Swap, The Abandoned and More

It may be April Fools Day, but this is no joke: there are plenty of new games for you to try on your smartphone or tablet. For instance, Disney Interactive released two games this week. The first, Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2, allows players to create a team of super heroes to take on villains in three-on-three turn-based battles. The second game, The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Run, is an endless runner based on the upcoming live-action film The Jungle Book. Elsewhere, Zynga released Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Slots this week. The slot machine game features machines based on scenes from the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. If you're looking for something different to play, here's a look at some of the additional games released this week. Crazy Cake Swap (Free on iOS, Android, Amazon) - This match-three puzzle game from Zynga's recently acquired Zindagi Games includes 225 levels, which ask players to make matches with sweet treats in order to feed guests at their bakery. Each level has a different goal to complete within a limited number of moves, and players can use power-ups if they need help completing a stage. Gamers can personalize their experience by taking or importing a picture of themselves, as well as pictures of their friends, to customize their avatar and guests. Tap Sports Baseball 2016 (Free on iOS, Android) - From Glu Mobile, this baseball game allows players to create and manage a team of real-world players. The game allows users to play with friends, compete in live events and more. Users can also join clubs with other players to earn rewards. During games, players can steal bases, bunt, pinch-hit and more. Blocky 6 (Free on iOS) - This puzzle game from Pine Entertainment asks players to drag shapes to the game board to form complete vertical or horizontal lines. As gamers place shapes, the number on each block on the game board decreases. When a number reaches zero, the block becomes a rock, and can no longer be used in lines. Games end when players run out of moves. Users have access to power-ups to help them play. One can be used to destroy any block on the screen, while another will add blocks to empty squares on the screen. League of War: Mercenaries (Free on iOS, Android) - From MunkyFun and GREE, this military action game challenges players to destroy enemy bases by spending action points to deploy troops in each battle. Action points recharge automatically over time. Once deployed, units will advance toward the enemy base and attack enemies automatically. In between battles, players can construct a base and upgrade their units to make them stronger. In addition to story-based missions, users can compete against other players to win extra rewards. Krosmaster Arena (Free on iPad, Android tablets) - From Ankama, this digital board game allows players to collect 145 figurines, and take their figurines into battle against other players in ranked and unranked battles. Gamers can also play in the game's Adventure mode, which includes bosses to defeat and six worlds to explore. The game was previously released on PC, Mac and Linux, and features cross-platform gameplay. LEGO Jurassic World ($4.99 on iOS, Android) - From Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and Universal Brand Development, LEGO Jurassic World features 20 story levels, and allows gamers to play as 16 different dinosaurs. Users can also create their own dinosaurs using dinosaur DNA. The game features content from Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World. Ink Slime (Free on iOS) - This endless survival game from Umoni and Forcube challenges players to tap at the right time to shoot at ink slimes at the top of the screen. The ink slimes may be moving, or may be partially blocked by obstacles, so players must tap when they'll hit an ink slime with their shot. Gamers can collect currency as they play, and spend this currency on new weapons. Save My Face (Free on iOS, Android) - This mini-game title from Brutal Studio allows players to customize their character by using a selfie for its face. One mini-game may ask players to ski downhill while avoiding barbwire fences, while another asks players to help their character avoid spinning saw blades, and so on. Gamers can collect coins in each game, and spend these on new items for their character. The Walking Dead: Michonne Episode 2: Give No Shelter ($4.99 on iOS, Android, Amazon) - This second episode in a three-part series from Telltale Games follows Michonne, Pete and Sam as they run for their lives following their escape from the floating colony of Monroe. As gamers play, they can make decisions which may impact the way the story unfolds going forward. Episode 3 of this series will be released in April 2016. Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 5: Order Up! ($4.99 on iOS, Android, Amazon) - The fifth episode in this series from Telltale Games bridges the gap between the Wither Storm story of the first four episodes, and the three new episodes being released later this year. The episode follows Jesse and friends on a quest in Sky City, as they're forced to defend themselves after Aiden convinces Sky City's ruler they're 'up to no good.' Flail Rider (Free on iOS, Android) - From Catpancake and BulkyPix, Flail Rider gives players 60 seconds to cause as much damage as possible using a flail attached to their vehicle. Players tap and hold on the left and right sides of the screen to steer, and must avoid wrecking their vehicle as they drive. Gamers can collect coins while playing, and spend these on new vehicles. Ultraflow 2 (Free on iOS, Android) - This level-based puzzle game from Ultrateam asks players to swipe to move a ball to the goal somewhere on the screen. The ball can only bounce off of surfaces in the environment a limited number of times before disappearing, so players must swipe in the right direction to complete the stage before the ball runs out of bounces. Levels become more complicated as players progress, and include things like breakable blockades and shapes which instantly destroy the ball if they're touched. Ultraflow 2 includes 180 free levels. Players can also purchase the hard mode upgrade for $1.99 to unlock the 'hardcore' version of these levels, bringing the game to 360 levels in total. Ultraflow 2 is coming soon to the Amazon Appstore and Windows Phone Store. The Abandoned ($1.99 on iOS, Android) - Developed by Yadon Studio, and published with support from Gaijin Entertainment, The Abandoned is a survival horror game challenging players to survive while trapped in 'the Zone,' an area filled with evil creatures and 'unpredictable anomalies.' Players must manage their fear levels and morale bar, and must collect food, gather supplies, build shelters and more in order to survive. The game includes a crafting system, and allows players to upgrade their character by collecting skill points and artifacts. The game's story mode (which supports checkpoints) reportedly offers more than 10 hours of gameplay, while a survival mode challenges players to start over every time they die. Finally, an adventure mode offers quests for players to complete.
