Microsoft Adds Drawing Tools to Word, Excel, PowerPoint iOS Apps

The updated apps allow iPhone users to write and draw on top of Word documents, spreadsheets and presentation slides.

Microsoft launched updates for its Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications on iOS. As reported by The Verge, the updates allow iPhone users to write and draw on top of Word documents, spreadsheets and presentation slides.

With these updates, users can access a new Draw menu in all three apps. The menu includes three drawing tools: pen, highlighter and eraser. Users can select from multiple drawing colors, as well as line thickness options.

The Excel and PowerPoint apps also include an additional option, “Convert to Shapes,” which turns drawn shapes, such as rectangles and circles, into rigid shapes.

Finally, the PowerPoint app includes a “Lasso Select” option, which allows users to select multiple objects on slides by drawing selection lines around them.

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint are available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
