Facebook Adds Mention Tagging Of Friends In Open Graph Apps

Facebook added the ability for users of open graph applications to mention their friends in their messages from those apps, calling it “mention tagging.”

Facebook added the ability for users of open graph applications to mention their friends in their messages from those apps, calling it “mention tagging.”

When friends are mentioned in posts from open graph apps, their friends’ names will link to their timelines, the posts will also appear on their timelines (or in their timeline reviews, if they are using that feature), and they will receive notifications.

Facebook offered more details in a post on its developer blog, including how mention tagging differs from its already existing action tagging feature:

Mention tagging can be used whenever a user wants to reference their friend in the message text they enter.
