Facebook’s new vice president for mobile and global access policy is certainly qualified for the post, as the social network announced the hire of former Federal Communications Commission chairman Kevin Martin.
Bloomberg was the first to report on the hire, adding that Martin had been consulting for the past two years, including advising Facebook on issues such as connectivity, spectrum and mobile.
Martin became a commissioner at the FCC in May 2001, and he was elevated to the chairman’s role in March 2005, before leaving the agency in January 2009 to join the Aspen Institute.
Facebook also announced that chief privacy officer Erin Egan will add the role of VP of U.S.
