Facebook to Bring Free WiFi to Low-Income Neighborhood in São Paulo

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s mission to connect the world has extended to the Heliopolis favela in São Paulo.

Zuckerberg met with Brazil President Dilma Rousseff at the 7th Summit of the Americas in Panama City last Friday, where they announced a trial Internet connectivity program in the low-income neighborhood.

Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post:

I just met with President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil. We had a good discussion about working together to connect more people to the internet in Brazil.

One project we announced today is a trial connectivity program in the Heliopolis favela in São Paulo.
