Facebook Messenger for Windows is out of its private test mode and available for public download via the social network’s Help Center.

TechCrunch reported Facebook’s confirmation that the client is available for download, which was first reported by Israeli blog TechIT.

Messenger for Windows requires Windows 7, and there were no signs of a Mac-compatible version. The app automatically syncs with Facebook, and it allows users to chat and message with their Facebook friends, and see ticker updates and notifications.

Facebook said the app currently supports chatting and messaging only with individual friends, and not group chat or video calling.
