Can Facebook Editor Community, Places Editors Stay Motivated?

Facebook’s efforts to enlist its users’ help in editing information about places included a contest that wrapped up Monday.

The contest encouraged members of the Facebook Editor community or Places Editors group to spot errors on pages for places, with “all accepted edits on missing or incorrect edits” earning them one point apiece, and double points for pages on a list of some 150 destinations.

According to the contest rules, the top 10 editors will receive “thank-you gifts” from Facebook, with the top editor also collecting “a special gift of travel gear.”

Reader Matteo Gamba of TransferWise alerted SocialTimes about the contest, saying that Facebook may be experiencing some of the same difficulties as Foursquare in keeping its “super-users” motivated enough to contribute.
