A former ad manager's Black History Month campaign goes viral.

Eunique Jones Gibson’s evolution from ad manager at Microsoft to professional photographer took about four years, but once she discovered her true passion, she never looked back.

Gibson’s latest project is the “Because of Them, We Can” campaign, where she photographs children as African-American civil rights heroes, both past and present. The campaign blew up on social media, with everyone from Kerry Washington to Common sending out tweets of support. The project was initially only supposed to run for the month of February, in honor of Black History Month, but Gibson is now looking to expand:

We’re having conversations with media partners to get the campaign across as many [media] as possible — television, radio, billboards, bus shelters.
