Facebook has begun pushing its users to take advantage of the smart friend list features it introduced last September.

Facebook has begun pushing its users to take advantage of the smart friend list features it introduced last September.

Sister blog Inside Facebook reports that users are seeing sidebar modules encouraging use of its close friends and acquaintances lists.

Users are being prompted to add the friends they interact with most to their close friends lists, in order to ensure that their content is prominent within their news feeds.

Conversely, if users mark news feed items as spam, Facebook suggests that the source of that content be added to the acquaintances list, so that posts by that person appear in the news feed less frequently.
