Christmas Weekend Saw Worldwide In-App Revenue of $500 Million (Report)

Worldwide in-app revenue for the Christmas holiday in 2016 was up "significantly" year-over-year.

Worldwide in-app revenue for the Christmas holiday in 2016 was up “significantly” year-over-year, according to new data from application store optimization company Sensor Tower.

Specifically, Sensor Tower Store Intelligence found that user spending in apps over the Christmas holiday in 2016 (Dec. 24 through 26) grew 52 percent when compared with the same time period in 2015, from $330 million to $500 million worldwide.

According to Sensor Tower, more than 87 percent of the gross in-app revenue earned by apps on the iTunes App Store and Google Play during the Christmas holiday in 2016 came from games.
