Apple Will Begin Removing Outdated Apps From App Store
Apple said it will soon begin removing apps "that no longer function as intended, don't follow current review guidelines or are outdated."
Apple will soon begin removing outdated and non-functional applications from the iTunes App Store.
According to multiple published reports, Apple sent an email to developers announcing the move. Apple also posted an FAQ for developers, which explained the removal process. In the FAQ, Apple said this process will affect apps “that no longer function as intended, don’t follow current review guidelines or are outdated.”
According to the FAQ, Apple will “begin the process of reviewing and removing apps” Sept. 7.
If Apple finds an issue with an app, it said it will give the developer 30 days to submit an update that fixes the issue.
