People already had the ability to view products directly in a WhatsApp business profile, and the Facebook-owned messaging application added catalog collections to the mix Wednesday.
Businesses can now organize items in their catalogs by category, making it easier for potential customers to find what they are looking for without having to browse through long lists.
WhatsApp shared the examples of a restaurant creating collections featuring appetizers, entrees and desserts, or a clothing store doing so for men’s clothes, women’s clothes, shirts, pants and other items.
The platform cited a recent Ipsos study, which found that 36% of WhatsApp users in India and 35% in Brazil have used the app to shop or browse products more often since the onset of the pandemic.
