Twitter teamed up with sports technology company Opendorse on a way for student-athletes to monetize video content on the social network in anticipation of upcoming legislation that will allow those student-athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness.
The partnership pairs Opendorse’s endorsement marketplace with Twitter video sponsorships and enables advertisers to sponsor and support brand-safe content from student-athletes.
Advertisers will be able to browse, pitch and align with student-athletes to participate in Twitter video campaigns covering defined topics including fanbase shoutouts and training tips.
Meanwhile, student-athletes will be able to review invitations from advertisers and publish video content to their personal Twitter account, after which pre-roll ads will run with the content and they will be compensated.
