Meta released the March 2022 edition of its Global State of Small Business report, examining the effects of the pandemic on small and midsized businesses in the U.S. and worldwide.

The latest installment contains insights from a January survey of 23,840 SMB leaders across 30 countries and territories, including 5,324 SMB leaders from the U.S.

Globally, 20% of SMBs responding to the survey reported being closed currently, up from 18% in the July 2021 report. Meanwhile, 34% said they reduced employment due to the pandemic.

One-quarter of SMBs worldwide operate as digital-only businesses, while just 10% said they intend to remain digital-only once the pandemic ends.
