Vungle Buys GameRefinery as Post-IDFA Era Draws Closer

Deal tops a series of M&A moves and foreshadows privacy updates

Mobile advertising firm Vungle announced today its acquisition of Finnish gaming data company GameRefinery, as marketers adjust to Apple’s imminent privacy changes that will require opt-in from iPhone users before they can access crucial data points.

Financial terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed. The acquisition comes on the heels of Vungle’s buyout of mobile marketing platform AlgoLift last October.

“Together, Vungle, GameRefinery and AlgoLift offer the only platform that speaks to game and product teams in the development process, marketing, [user acquisition] and growth teams in the scaling stage, and data teams when measuring and refining outcomes,” Vungle CEO Jeremy Bondy said in a statement.

IDFA isn’t ending, but it’s almost that bad

Vungle’s recent acquisitions are meant to help the firm keep pace with a mobile advertising ecosystem in flux.
