Study Uncovers 10 New Voter Segments To Hone Political Ad Targeting

Resonate is going beyond political party affiliations for audience scalability

With nearly four weeks left to this year’s Midterm elections, slated for Nov.8, advertising is at full throttle. But political marketers are missing an opportunity to target more nuanced audience segments.

Consumer intelligence firm Resonate found a majority of these missed audiences, also known as independents, live in the moderate middle of Democratic and Republican ends.

Surveying over 200,000 voters and asking questions related to today’s most relevant political and policy issues, such as climate change and gun control, Resonate identified 10 new voter segments that political candidates and campaigns can consider to increase voter turnout, a key contributor to winning an election.

Based on the data collected, the company found 14,000 different attributes across the 200,000 voters, which it linked to online behaviors through machine-learning algorithms.
