Streaming platform Spotify released its Q1 2022 results and managed to exceed its performance goals—despite having to cut Russia’s access to the platform last month, where the market accounted for nearly 1.5 million subscriptions.

The platform’s premium subscribers grew 15% year-on-year, adding 182 million subscribers in Q1—2 million more compared to Q4 2021.

Founder and chief executive officer Daniel Ek said in a statement the platform “came in line or ahead” when excluding the impact of its withdrawal from Russia.
