Smart AdServer Undergoes Ownership Overhaul

Private equity firm Capital Croissance becomes majority shareholder

As regulators threaten to break up Big Tech and open the door for smaller players to capitalize, investors are eyeing diversification in the digital advertising market.

That’s why private equity firm Capital Croissance has taken majority-ownership of France-based ad-tech firm Smart AdServer in a funding round that also involves Idinvest and Adelie Capital.

The restructure sees Croissance become majority shareholder of Smart in a management buyout from the ad-tech company’s initial benefactor Cathay Capital. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As a part of this transaction, Smart’s management team is raising its collective stake from 8% to 15% with the company aiming to use the additional funds to further its international expansion plus bolster its ad-tech offering which includes an ad server plus demand- and supply-side platforms.
