Instagram: How to Use Face ID for Purchases on iOS

It's an alternative to your PIN

Instagram Shop can be found under the Explore tab Instagram

Instagram Shop began rolling out in the U.S. in July, giving users of the photo- and video-sharing application a way to browse and purchase items from brands without leaving the app. If you use a supported iOS device, you have the option to use Face ID to confirm purchases, rather than using your custom PIN (personal identification number). Our guide will show you how to turn this option on for future purchases.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram app on an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Step 1: On your Instagram profile, tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “Orders and Payments.”

Step 3: Tap “Security.”

Step 4: Tap the toggle to the right of “Use Face ID instead of PIN.” Note: If you’ve never created a PIN for Facebook Pay, you’ll be asked to do that now.

Step 5: Enter your PIN to confirm you want to turn this setting on. Note: Your device may also load a permissions window that asks if you want to allow Instagram to use Face ID.
