Google Updates Its Political Ads Policy

'Paid for by' disclosure will be required

Google announced changes to its political content policy ads for audio and video. The changes have different requirements for ads based on region. Some, including the U.S, U.K, India, Australia and Israel, have additional requirements.

The updated policy, for most ad formats, mandates a disclosure called “Paid for by.” These ad formats include:

  • Third-party ads serving on Google Display Network and YouTube.
  • Audio native creatives on display and video 360.
  • Video creatives on display and video 360 (except for creatives served on YouTube).
