Looking ahead to 2022, there are multiple concerns for lawmakers that will impact the media and marketing industry. For Data Privacy Day, here’s a look at those that are chief among them, including data collection, privacy, and antitrust concerns.
Congress faces a myriad of bills including the Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act that encourages data transparency towards consumers, Ending Platform Monopolies Act that prevents tech companies from leveraging the usage of their goods and services, a bipartisan legislation called Deceptive Experiences To Online Users Reduction (DETOUR) Act, to thwart social media platforms from using deceptive user interfaces, or “dark patterns,” that trick consumers into sharing their data, to name a few.
