Facebook detailed a change in the way it counts people on its platform for the purposes of ads planning and measurement.

Vice president of product marketing, ads Graham Mudd explained in a blog post that Facebook had been counting a person with multiple accounts as one person for ad purposes if their Facebook and Instagram accounts were linked via those respective applications, or if it believed the accounts were used by the same person, such as if the same email address was used to create both accounts, or the same device was used to access the respective apps.
