Today, in honor of their sixth birthday, YouTube announced that it has reached two new landmarks. Users are now uploading more than 48 hours of video footage per minute, and accounting for more than 3 billion videos per day!

Happy Birthday, YouTube!  Six years ago YouTube burst its way onto the Web scene and it’s been uphill ever since.  Today, in honor of their sixth birthday, YouTube announced that it has reached two new landmarks.  Users are now uploading more than 48 hours of video footage per minute, and accounting for more than 3 billion videos per day!

The big news was just announced on the YouTube blog.  The YouTube team writes, “Back in November we challenged you to up the volume of videos you uploaded to the site.  And boy, did you take the bait.  Today, more than 48 hours (two days worth) of video are uploaded to the site every minute, a 37% increase over the last six months and 100% over last year.”  The last announcement about video uploads came back in November, when YouTube announced that YouTubers were uploading over 35 hours of video per minute.
