Dark mode is coming to WhatsApp starting Tuesday.
The Facebook-owned messaging application said users with the latest version of WhatsApp can activate dark mode by enabling it in their system settings for Android 10 or iOS 13, or going to WhatsApp settings, chats, theme in Android 9 and below.
Dark mode was introduced with short film Hello Darkness, which features a rare, previously unreleased version of Paul Simon’s “The Sound of Silence.”
WhatsApp said dark mode was designed to reduce eye strain in environments with low light, adding in a blog post, “And we hope it helps prevent those awkward moments where your phone lights up the room.”
