From retail purchases to application downloads, reviews have proven highly influential in the consumer decision-making process. While negative reviews can send a potential customer running, more than 90 percent of the top 100 apps in app stores have five-star ratings. An infographic from mobile engagement solutions provider Apptentive examines the impact of ratings and reviews on the app ecosystem.

Negative reviews and low ratings act as red flags to potential app users. Very few consumers will download one-star-rated apps, and more than one-half of those surveyed said poor ratings left them with negative impressions of brands.
