Washington Post Wins Pulitzer for National Reporting

Carol Leonnig wins for her coverage of the Secret Service.

Washington Post investigative and enterprise reporter Carol D. Leonnig won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for her “smart persistent coverage of the Secret Service” it was announced this afternoon.

Leonnig’s series of articles on the Secret Service covered the organization’s failure to prevent security breaches that included an intruder who was able to make it inside the White House, as well as a detailed report on the Secret Service’s slow-burning systemic failures. Leonnig has been with the Post since 2001.
