Twitter Went to the North During the NBA Finals

The champion Toronto Raptors heated up the social network

The Toronto Raptors not only took home the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy after besting the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 National Basketball Association Finals, but the North reigned on Twitter, too.

Twitter said that during the NBA Finals, @Raptors had 55% more mentions than @Warriors, while #WeTheNorth pulverized #DubNation, with 385% more mentions on the social network.

The five top overall players in terms of mentions during the Finals were:

  1. Kevin Durant
  2. Stephen Curry
  3. Kawhi Leonard
  4. Klay Thompson
  5. Kyle Lowry

And the top five Raptors were:

  1. Leonard
  2. Lowry
  3. Fred Van Vleet
  4. Pascal Siakim
  5. Serge Ibaka

The six games ranked by tweet volume were:

  3. Game one
  4. Game four
