This afternoon Twitter users had their hearts skip a beat after follower counts temporarily dropped to zero. Twitter stated that the issues was due to a bug which enabled users to force others to follow them. Fortunately for Twitter users the issue was not permanent. Chris Messina pointed out the issue an hour ago before the bug was fixed.

While we’re not quite sure how users were forcing others to follow them, it’s obviously a significant bug.
