Five months after Vivian Schiller left NBC for Twitter, the social media company has hired away another exec from a traditional outlet.

Janice Morris, People.com's editor in chief, revealed with a tweet this morning that she's leaving to team up with Schiller to build Twitter's news operation. Morris was an editor with the magazine's website for 12 years as part of a news career that spans three decades.

Not much is known of the Schiller-led operation, outside that she has been charged with overseeing partnerships with editorial organizations like NBC, NPR and The New York Times.

But adding Morris should only embolden Twitter's news-based aspirations, which potentially align with its publisher-based advertising endeavors such as Twitter Amplify.
