Twitter said last month that it would begin adding labels and warning messages to tweets containing disputed or misleading information related to the coronavirus pandemic, and that initiative has been extended to tweets claiming that 5G causes Covid-19.
The social network is adding a label below those tweets, reading, “Get the facts on Covid-19,” and directing users to a Twitter event debunking the theory.
The event contains information and context from news articles, tweets and official sources.
A Twitter spokesperson said, “We’re prioritizing the removal of Covid-19 content when it has a call to action that could potentially cause harm.
