Twitter App Update Narrows Search Results

Twitter added new ways to search through its millions of tweets via its iOS and Android apps late Tuesday.

New search filters let a user narrow the type of content, or type of account, that will be included in the results after entering a search term. First, enter the search term, and then find the little filter button next to the search box. Now you can filter to select either all tweets related to that term, photos only, videos only, news, or people with a Twitter handle that includes the term.

The new search filter also lets you choose to only see tweets from those you follow on Twitter, and to select tweets from everywhere or “near you.”

A new feature in the app’s “#Discover” timeline will now show what nearby events and TV shows are trending, too.
