"There are nipples so it's NSFW." -- The Best Tweeters of the Adult Film Industry

Every year the worlds of adult film and main stream entertainment move closer together. The gap has been narrowing as adult stars get more and more opportunities to star in Hollywood pictures. This year one film is noteworthy, as Piranha 3-D featured Gianna Michaels, Riley Steele, and Ashlynn Brooke, all of the industry. Social media too has helped bridge the gap as many stars are on Twitter, connecting with fans in a variety of interesting ways (some very adult). With that, and on the heels of the Adult Video News (AVN) Awards in Las Vegas this past month, here are the most interesting adult film stars to follow on Twitter. Sasha Grey @Sasha Grey: Arguably the most main stream of all adult film stars, Grey had a recurring role on Entourage this year playing herself, posed in Playboy, again, and in 2009 starred in Steven Soderbergh's film The Girlfriend Experience. In a continuing successful effort to appeal to a wider audience, Grey has made herself very accessible on Twitter. While she will occasionally promote events or movies, most of tweets are genuinely interesting and often interactive. She polls her fans, retweets messages, and sends out pictures, all while cheering on her favourite sports teams. Were a random internet bystander not know she was an adult film star, there isn't much on her Twitter account to give it away. She has retired from the adul film business, but she will continue to be in the spot light. We've-All-Been-There Tweet: "Who else had their tv cut out 11 seconds early like it was the Heidi Bowl...? Smell of bullll" 2. Stoya @stoya: The provocative brunette has risen to fame over the last few years, wholly embracing social networking. She tweets, blogs, and maintains a Tumblr account. She goes as far as she can to connect with fans without actually telling everyone where she is. "Please consider how bad of an idea it could be for me to go casually announcing my location in public..." she messages one fan. Her account isn't particularly 'adult,' but she will link to pictures and videos that certainly are. Still, she is another accessible adult star that on Twitter that has interesting, if not simply cute things to say, giving fans a curious look into her world. Lessons-for-Life Tweet: "I just finished teaching someone how to measure me for a corset. I'd forgotten that most people don't consider that a mandatory skill." 3. Bailey Jay @baileyjay88: Many fans of the industry may not know her, but they will soon. Bailey Jay had a great experience in Vegas, coming away as AVN's 2011 Transsexual Performer of the Year. More than anyone before her, she has the ability to become the most popular tgirl in the industry using social media to her advantage. With Twitter, she is able to talk to her fans and showcase her work. She also has a podcast which she puts out a few times a month where she chats with fellow adult stars, brings in surprise guests, and answers fan questions. She is a young, savvy star on the rise with a winning personality for all to see. Get-to-know-me Tweet: "Alcohol makes me fun and cigarettes make me cool! Lol I'm nothing without them! Lol" 4. Tori Black @misstoriblack: One of the most popular stars in the industry now, Black has over 65,000 followers on Twitter and that number is on the rise. She is very down-to-earth and outgoing, which is to say that on Twitter she is not at all shy. She will intersperse serious messages of hope and optimism with dirty pictures, euphemisms, and self promotion. She is nothing if not entertaining, and she does it well. You've been warned--and hopefully tempted. A-Day-in-the-Life Tweet: "Best day ever, went shopping for the the AVN awards, had a nap, some sex (a lot of it) watched snatch and played black ops killin zombies." 5. Ashlynn Brooke: @ashlynn_brooke Regardless of how small the part was, Brooke did make an appearance in Piranha 3D, and with her active Twitter account, she is gaining in popularity through social media like so many others. The blond beauty is also a huge football fan, and looks to be very active in the coming weeks as her Green Bay Packers are making a run at the Super Bowl. Brooke sends out lots of messages to fans, but doesn't get too serious and usually stays on topics of entertainment and sports. Sports Tweet: "Just read an article on the lockout. Oh boy. Hope the players have been saving their checks. I hope A LOT of people have been saving..." 6. Rocco Reed, @roccoreedxxx: No list would be complete without giving some love to the all too often under-appreciated male adult film stars. The men in the industry are less identifiable, but Reed is a young and enthusiastic star, with an interesting personality that comes across in interviews and on Twitter. Reed is one of the most prolific tweeters, and followed by many other in the industry. Most of his tweets are messages to his fans, but if you are also interested in the daily life of a adult actor, he is the man to follow. There are scripts? Tweet: "Shooting "Girlfriend for Hire" starting tomorrow directed by @StormyDaniels and starring @Kirsten_Price .. I'm going over my script then bed."
