The Simpsons: Tapped Out Gets Treehouse of Horror Event for 2015

The update allows players to destroy nightmare creatures spawned by an evil campfire.

EA Mobile has released its yearly Halloween update in The Simpsons: Tapped Out on mobile devices. The year’s Treehouse of Horror event sees the kids of Springfield tell scary stories around the campfire, which spawn nightmare creatures around Springfield.

This event starts as Bart, Lisa and friends build a campfire using evil driftwood. After avoiding Lisa’s warnings, Bart inadvertently uses the campfire to open a portal and free a creature called ‘M’nthster’ from its imprisonment. To remove M’nthster from town, the kids will need to tell scary stories around the campfire to reopen the portal, allowing the creature to leave.

For Act 1 of this event, players receive the Spooky Campfire item for free, and can use it to send children on timed tasks to either tell scary stories or generate s’mores, one of this event’s currencies. As children tell stories, they spawn nightmare creatures around Springfield (like zombies), which users can tap on to destroy and generate additional currencies.

Players can spend secondary currencies, like brains, snake eggs, bunny ears and bones, to craft themed buildings and decorations via this event’s crafting menu. A Dead Tree decoration, for instance, costs 100 bones to unlock. S’mores, meanwhile, are used in bulk to unlock special prizes in the event, like a Spooky Cabin, a pirate costume for Kang and the Gate to Nowhere item, which generates additional nightmares to destroy (among other prizes).

As players destroy these nightmare creatures in bulk, they’ll accumulate points which correspond to upgrades for the Spooky Campfire itself. As players upgrade the Campfire, it will spawn future nightmare creatures at a faster rate. These upgrades also include additional prizes, like a Spooky Shed building or Bramble Hedge decorative items, as examples.

As with other events in The Simpsons: Tapped Out, this Treehouse of Horror event is split into three acts, with Act 1 being available for 13 days. In addition to unlocking prizes in these timed segments, players can purchase items like Halloween decorations or character costumes in the game’s store. A Radioactive Milhouse costume, for instance, costs 75 Donuts (the game’s premium currency), while a Saxophone Lisa costume costs 60 Donuts, and so on.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.
