Social Media Tool Provider Syncapse Acquires Social Media Agency Nudge

Social media tool provider Syncapse today acquired London-based full service social media agency Nudge. The deal will augment Syncapse’s range of technology and strategy solutions with Nudge’s understanding of the European social media landscape and knack for creating innovative campaigns. All twelve members of Nudge’s team will join Syncapse’s London office to begin working on Facebook and other social media platform projects from Syncapse’s Europe, the Middle East, and Africa portfolio as well as supporting existing Nudge clients like Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser. The exact terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, though the three founding members of Nudge will join the Syncapse management team.

Syncapse, a Facebook Preferred Developer Consultant with 150 employees, offers enterprise-class social media tools including social media publishing and measurement system SocialTalk, social media business data tracking and insights platform SocialTrac, and Social Sync, a tool which reposts user comments and content from one social media platform to parallel threads on other sites and platforms.

Nudge meanwhile builds custom Facebook apps with innovative viral features and snazzy Pages for brands. To promote Sony Playstation, Nudge built the Superpower Friends Facebook app which lets users fill in the blanks to create wall posts about how their friends would use superhero abilities, and the Playstation Facebook Page showcasing video players, free downloads, prompts to Like, and links to Pages of popular Playstation games.

Unlike many branded apps which feel like a logo tacked onto a shallow template, Nudge produces full-featured promotions that embody the brand in style and functionality. The company showed their penchant for quick implementation of innovative ideas by winning a Facebook Developer Garage London Hackathon judged by Mark Zuckerberg with an app which notifies users of public transportation delays prior to their Facebook Events.

Michael Scissons, President and CEO of Syncapse, says the company is bullish about the current economic climate of the social media industry. “Brands and agencies…are looking for global partners who can bring social to life across multiple countries, languages and cultures. The result will be more and more acquisition and consolidation opportunities for those who are best positioned to serve these global brands.”

Scissons explains that a current trend in the social media technology industry is the demand for measurement tools. “Marketers are under pressure to validate their spending to CFOs and senior management who may not fully understand the digital landscape. We’re here to help them demonstrate early wins that justify initial investments…and further prove the impact that social technology can have on the bottom line.” Syncapse’s acquisition of Nudge will allow it to take clients from the campaign idea generation stage to performance measurement.
