Social and Communications Apps Accounted for 50 Percent of Time Spent in Apps in 2018

Mobile data and analytics company App Annie published its 2019 State of Mobile report, which analyzed the use of mobile applications worldwide in 2018.

The report found that globally, social and communications apps accounted for 50 percent of the total time spent in mobile apps in 2018, followed by video players and editors at 15 percent and games at 10 percent.

Globally, users spent over 685 billion hours in social networking and communications apps in 2018, up 35 percent from 2016.
