Snapchat Is Celebrating Black History Month With an AR Museum Featuring Young Artists

‘For Us, By Us: Art Through the Eyes of Black Millennials’ is accessible via a world lens

Snapchat is helping to mark Black History Month with what it is calling the first-ever augmented reality museum dedicated to young black artists.

Starting Monday and running through the end of February, rising artists such as Gianni Lee, Bianca Pastel, Jessica Spence, Jameel Mohammed and Paracosm will have their art featured in a digital gallery, which Snapchat users can access via an immersive world lens.

Snapchatters using that lens will be able to enter “For Us, By Us: Art Through the Eyes of Black Millennials” and explore and interact with art from those artists, with a musical soundtrack provided by up-and-coming artist Ivy Sole.

Each piece of art is accompanied by its title and the artist, and “walking closer” to each piece leads to its display across the entire screen.
