Snapchat: Here's How to Add Text to a Snap

Did you know that you can add text to Snaps before sharing them to your profile? Our guide will show you how this works.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Snapchat application on iOS.

Step 1: Once you’ve taken a photo or video Snap, tap the “T” in the top-right corner of the screen. Note: You can also edit existing Snaps that are saved in your Memories.

Step 2: Type your desired text. Note: Tap the “@” symbol if you want to tag another user in your text.

If you want to change the font type, swipe left and right on the font names above your keyboard, and tap one to change your font.

For certain fonts, you can choose the alignment (left, right or center) by tapping the alignment button at the top of the screen.

For certain fonts, you can use pinch-to-zoom controls to change the font’s size.

If you want to change the font’s color, swipe up and down on the slider on the right side of the screen. Note: For the “Label” font type, the slider changes the label’s background color instead of the font color.

Step 3: When you’re done editing the text, tap on the screen outside of the text area to exit the Text menu.

From there, you can drag the text around the screen to best fit your Snap before sharing it. Note: For certain font types, you can also rotate and/or resize the text using swipe and pinch-to-zoom controls.
