Shutterstock Partners With PMC

Deal will result in the 2016 addition of historic Variety and WWD material.

It’s one of those fun bits of Daily Variety wordplay. On the front page of the April 17, 1957 edition, the headline read: “TV Sugar-‘Codes’ Old Features.”

This picture of Frank Sinatra from a year during which he released five albums, along with many others, will soon be part of the vast Shutterstock database. The deal with Penske Media Corporation also includes similarly historic WWD material. From the Monday morning Cannes Lions announcement:

“The Shutterstock team has the most compelling vision for the future direction of editorial imagery,” said Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of PMC.
