Rocky Mountain News Vets to Launch Web Daily

A group of journalists from the now-defunct Rocky Mountain News plan to launch an online daily news site this summer.

Content of the site, named The Rocky Mountain Independent, will be provided by “a team of professional reporters and editors, paid contributors and independently owned partner blogs that will participate through content and revenue-sharing agreements,” according to an announcement.

The Rocky Mountain Independent business model depends on “memberships” and advertising revenue, the journalists said. Members will have access to premium content and features that would include live discussions with Independent reporters.

The founding journalists with a majority stake in what they are calling an “online daily magazine” include Steve Foster, Cindy House, David Milstead, John B.
